Garden Bed Planner

Design a rectangular garden bed with drag-and-drop plants, auto-spacing guides, and seasonal rotation suggestions.

How It Works

The Garden Bed Planner lets you visually design your garden layout on a to-scale rectangular bed.

Placing Plants

1. Set your bed dimensions in feet.
2. Select a plant from the palette — filter by season if needed.
3. Click anywhere on the bed canvas to place the plant. A spacing circle shows the recommended area each plant needs.
4. Drag placed plants to reposition them. Right-click or long-press to remove a plant.

Auto-Spacing

Each plant has a recommended spacing radius shown as a translucent circle. When circles overlap, the tool warns you that plants are too close. The grid snap option helps align plants to even intervals.

Auto-Fill

Select a plant type and click Auto-fill to automatically populate the entire bed using optimal grid spacing for that plant, respecting edge margins.

Seasonal Rotation

Crop rotation prevents soil depletion and breaks pest cycles. The planner groups your plants by family and suggests what to plant next season based on a standard 4-group rotation: Legumes → Brassicas → Nightshades/Fruits → Root Vegetables → Legumes.
